Since several years, France is looking for protein autonomy regarding feed as well as food. The case study focuses on the lupin value chain with INVEJA, the main French lupin processor for feed. INVEJA is affiliated to TERRENA GROUP and develops links with researchers (through internal, national and European projects), farmers and grain buyers/consumers.
Through this whole chain, INVEJA follows lupin grains from field (with its know-how on cultivation) to ingredients (like lupin proteins or final flour) and final products (like lupin flake).
The feature of this value chain will be evaluated and reviewed using interviews including farmers, lupin crop specialists and processors in order to understand the way they developed this market and keep it alive.
