Fababean organic value chain (Denmark)

The project Økoprotein (2012-2015) initiated a new interest for fababeans in Denmark. It was documented though organic trial that growing and feeding animals with Danish produced fababeans were a relevant alternative to imported soya. Since then the growing area and use of fababeans has increased and spread to the conventional farming.

Introducing a new crop and feed needs support by knowledge and spreading farmers experience to be a success. The aim of this value chain study is to support the further introduction of fababeans and address the barriers in the value chain.
